Education

I am a Junior at the University of Findlay. Equine Business Management is my major, but I am minoring in Equestrian Studies and Marketing as well. The Fall 2012 semester was my first semester at the University of Findlay and my GPA for the semester was 3.14. Prior to attending the University of Findlay I was in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Grand Rapids Community College, where I maintained a 3.4 GPA.

Experience

For the past five years I have been employed as a nanny. As a nanny one of my major responsibilities is helping children of various ages and academic levels with schoolwork. This includes assisting with homework completion as well as other preparation to ensure the students success in all the core areas of study. I have successfully completed General Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Interpersonal Communication, English Composition (1 and 2), Elementary Algebra, American Government, Principles of Macroeconomics, Developmental Psychology, Child Psychology, and Adolescent Psychology, and Principles of Sociology, as well as many other Nursing, Business, and Equestrian classes. I want to be a tutor because I love children. I enjoy working with children and teenagers to help them be successful.

Hobbies

I have a wide variety of hobbies and interests. I love spending a lot of time outdoors doing activities such as horseback riding (both recreational and competitive), camping, fishing, and hunting. A few indoor activities that I enjoy are reading, playing board and card games, playing the wii, and baking. My family and friends are very important to me and I spend a lot of my “free time” with them. I also enjoy watching and playing a wide variety of sports. In High School I was on the volleyball, soccer, and equestrian teams but I play back-yard softball, basketball, etc. often just for fun. Volunteer work is also very important to me. I love volunteering at different therapeutic horseback riding programs. I was an active 4-H member for 12 years and although I no longer qualify for membership due to age requirements I help out whenever possible. A couple years ago I volunteered 40 hours of service at Inner City Christian Federation helping with home repair and property cleanup of low-income and at risk families. I enjoy being an active member in my church. In the past I have volunteered to care for infants and toddlers in the church nursery and I taught Sunday school classes to four and five year olds for over a year. I also ran an after school club called the Horseless Horseman’s Program where I taught elementary students about various aspects of horse care and riding disciplines through educational lessons, games, and activities.
